Elton Group—May 2021

Broached Recall x EG

MDW Broached Recall and Elton Group Vintage Veneers

For Melbourne Design Week 2021 Elton Group partnered with Broached Commissions in a collection of twelve stunning monoliths each utilising Elton Group’s heritage veneers launched by the NGV last month.

The applied art objects are a celebration of our heritage and expertise.  The monoliths incorporate seven of our precious vintage timber veneers dating back from the 1930’s through to the 1990’s, in combination with our more contemporary and colourful retoned and recut Eveneer range. Each Recall object represents a unique dialogue between the past and present global management of our precious timber resources.

The NGV has acquired one of the timber monoliths for its permanent collection.

Centennial House by Isabelle Harris Design and Jonathan Spicer

Crossways house c 1908, a classic of the Federation Arts and Crafts style was stripped bare of much of its detail. This project has skilfully and sensitively re-inserted elements such as the dark veneer panelling which reference the original in a contemporary and subtle way.

New spaces have been clothed in the stunning Eveneer Xilo 2 Flamed Black veneer, a dark, cool, rich timber with a subtle yet striking grain, the perfect shade—not too grey, not too warm. The outcome is a superb marriage of high-end finishes and masterful detailing, a testament to the triptych dialogue and commitment between designer, supplier and joiner.

In Isabelle’s words, “the veneer is stunning and perfectly complements, in a quiet way, the other luxurious and natural finishes—timbers and stones.”

PaperWallThe perfect finish for walls and ceilings

PaperWall is the newest addition to the Elton Group collection, a woodfibre-based paper surface that replicates the patterning, grain and texture of timber and other architectural materials with unrivalled realism.

The unique surface is achieved through a combination of high-definition printing and precision embossing. The alignment between natural grain and texture creates a surface almost indistinguishable from the real thing.

PaperWall is sourced from well-managed forests,  a rapidly renewable resource and FSC certified.

PaperWall is the perfect finish for use on walls and ceilings in both commercial and residential project where timber veneer is not possible or practical.
