Upsides to Lockdown

Designers are trained to think outside the square, respond with agility and meet challenges head on. Navigating new ways of working, Elton Group spoke with our specifiers and found stories of inspiration and change for good.

“We are all thinking and rethinking about our homes differently … A conscious dwelling makes for a sound mind, meaningful connections and complete clarity.”

Georgia Ezra, Studio Ezra

“I often start my day off in my office and then move to the dining room table and then on to the rear patio in our private sunny garden. On the cooler days I follow the sunshine around, it’s interesting to see how we are all connected to nature even on a subconscious level.”

Alex Mason, Studio aem

“Most Friday mornings our team of 4 has a dress up zoom. It’s ridiculous and a great circuit breaker that lets us express our personal creativity and LAUGH! This is something we won’t do outside of WFH, so it’s special. The upside of lockdown.”

Georgia Hawkins, Brendan Wong Design

“I've found that clients who I would normally not be able to service in a traditional face-to-face environment such as interstate or out of area projects have been incredibly open and accommodating, allowing for a successful remotely designed project. The hard finishes and samples which I normally get to present in person are delivered to my clients in a beautifully presented gift box. This change has been received delightfully by my clients and evokes a feeling of excitement.”

Amanda Pocock, ACP Studio

At Elton Group we brainstormed ideas to support our specifiers and response with 2 new initiatives.

EG created a limited-edition miniature mobile pocket deck of Eveneer samples in palm-sized (A8) swatches for our A&D community. to meet the needs of specifying timber whilst working from home away from sample libraries and binders. Each sample includes a pattern diagram and QR code for quick reference to full specification details and sample orders on our website. There are a limited number still available.

The Little Book of Timber Veneer

To assist in building up knowledge and familiarity in selection, detailing and specifying timber veneers, Elton Group went back to basics and developed the evocative ‘The Little Book of Timber Veneer.’

This ‘book’ can be downloaded as either a print at home PDF or to Apple Books app, but is most beautiful as a tactile ‘timber’ bound book, printed on archive rag paper and finished with raw timber veneer covers.

A collectible. The first 50 responses will be mailed a book.
